I'm sure if you are a fellow Pinterest addict, that you have seen the adorable e-card that states 'Since I already screwed up my diet, I might as well wait until next Monday to start again because diets can only start on Mondays' or something to that extent! Well... let me tell you... this is *totally* me. Except not for 'dieting' but rather for exercising. I keep saying tomorrow is better... okay maybe on Thursday... and before I know it it's the next week and I haven't done [a] SQUAT! (Get it ;]). I have been in a lull. The gym is NOT calling my name the way it used to. Maybe it's the mommyhood wearing me down, maybe it's the fact that Married to Jonas is on and I just have to see what happens after this commercial, maybe it's because our small town rec center has no childcare, maybe it's... the possibilities are endless! But I am expanding my fitness horizons. Who needs the gym?
Lately, I've been trying not to say 'tomorrow's better!'. Instead, I am focusing on saying do it today!! This is a difficult process and my inner monologue tends to fight me constantly. I am trying to figure out new ways to get in some exercise that involves a child activity (and sometimes a dog activity because he wants to be involved too, plus he is at an unhealthy 98 pounds and needs to MOVE). This last weekend, our sweet little girl turned the big ONE! And along with that, my mother bought her the perfect wooden Radio Flyer wagon. She loves it, she is so calm in it, and just wants me to walk so she can look at everything.
Notice the great custom pads and pillows that her loving grandmother made for her wagon! And don't judge the mismatching prints, she's a trendsetter! Wait and see, there will be leopard and floral patterns combined everywhere.
So we have reinvented fitness by... walking! Sad isn't it? But it WORKS for me! And what mom doesn't love a calm child? We get creative, we take new roads we've never been on, sometimes we just walk in circles around the driveway while I throw the ball for our dog. I'm learning it doesn't matter what you do, just do something. All it takes is getting up and going and at some point, you just have to start!
And then when you're all done... you can go try a nice healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte (did I mention that I love pumpkin in my last post?!) for your happy hour!
